Week 7: A Year of Projects

This is going to be a super short post.  There has been some progress on the sleeve of my sweater.  I've knit a few rows everyday this week. I'm hoping to get a picture up later, it's just not working right now.

This week,  I've been focused on organizing the stash. I've been taking pictures and cataloging bins.  It's coming along nicely.  The biggest question is where to store it.  Hoping to figure that one out soon.

Week 6: Year of Projects

Not really sure where this week went.  It felt like it flew by!  It was not a very productive week as far as crafting.  BUT, the boxes are dwindling in the garage and we've got pictures on the wall.  It feels like home more and more each day! That's a win in my book.

Last Sunday we took a ride out to my brother's to pick up our chickens. He was fostering my daughter's two favorite chickens while  we were living in an apartment.  They are now home and in their new coop.  My daughter is thrilled!

On the garden front, we are beginning to get figs.  Harvesting figs is not as easy as picking blueberries.  This tree is attracting a lot of HUGE wasps. (What's up with the huge bugs in NC?) Babygirl tried a fig yesterday and decided she likes them.  I'm currently looking for fig recipes.  We're going to try some jam and a pie recommended by a friend.   Open to suggestions if you've got any...

Stash organization has begun, I was able to catalog and photograph a tote full of yarn  it has been entered/updated in Ravelry.

I've added a few inches to the sleeve of my sweater, but no real progress there.  I'm hoping to get a bit of time in today.  I'd really like it done this week.  Not sure how realistic that is, but I'm going to give it a shot.

Fun times this morning with an earthquake hitting NC.  I was teaching a class online when my whole house started shaking.  Can't wait to see that feedback as it was with a new student. Here's hoping the rest of the day is nice and quiet.

Week 5: Year of Projects

It’s been another productive week. And I’ve got a post up on Sunday!

A friend asked if I wanted to participate in Tour de Fleece Part 2.  I immediately answered yes as it’s been almost a year since I’ve touched my spinning wheel. (The apartment we were in didn’t really have a good setup for spinning or leaving the wheel out.)  I pulled the wheel out this week so I can clear the bobbins. I had two color ways in progress so I wanted to finish them up first. Here are the results:

Both are from when I was in the Into the Whirled fiber of the month club. The plan is to ply them both this week. But that requires a bit of study. It seems I have completely forgotten how to chain ply. If anyone has a recommendation for a good tutorial, please send it my way.

I was able to finish the yarn below. It was my first go with chain plying. I am happy with what I did last year. What I did last night is best summed up as a hot mess!  Hence the need for a tutorial.

Last up this week is my sweater. One sleeve complete!  The goal is to get the other sleeve done within the next two weeks. I really want to start a new project, but have promised myself I won’t do that until I finish the sweater. Hopefully that will be a little incentives be to get it done!

A Year of Projects: A Quick Update

It’s another week of where did the time go???  I’ve gotten out of the habit of taking 30 minutes to knit each morning.  That needs to chang...
